The Atlantic Oyster, also called the Wellfleet or Virginia, is native to the east coast of the North America and Gulf of Mexico. A dining staple of the eastern seaboard, the oyster is also of enormous environmental value to its habitat, and efforts have been made to conserve and replenish oyster reefs.
